African grass woven Zulu basket plates
Size: 25cm (D)
A beautiful handcrafted grass basket that has been woven by traditional Zulu tribes women. The grass weave basket is of the highest quality and is finished off with traditional Zulu weave patterns. This woven basket bowl and been crafted by Zulu woman from the small town of Hluhluwe which is found in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
The Zulu women use their talents that have been passed down from generation to generation to make these basket plates using various/different grasses and reeds. Some grasses get stained to a colour choice but in most cases the natural colour of the grass is used.
This style of Zulu weave basketry is slowly dying away as the newer generation start to adapt to the modern world and do not have the desire to learn these skills needed to make these plates.
Because of the nature of handcrafted Zulu women bowls each bowl will be similar but not identical to the picture. There will be slight variances between each woven bowl which adds to the uniqueness of the each individual African Zulu grass bowl.
